I came to know Walt Courtney well the past many years, as he came to my father's funeral in 2009 in Shelburn, IN - and we hit it off and met often after that. He and my father (Howard R. Turner) grew up together in Shelburn and both graduated from Shelburn HS. I took Walt on a couple of occasions to the Shelburn Old Fashioned Days festival in June, as he was the parade grand marshal about 5 years ago. I also took him to Shelburn Community Club Fish Fries - he enjoyed them much. I read scripture with Walt and last visited him in Regional Hospital about 6 week ago, June 2017. Walt was a friend to me, and my fahter before me, and his faith in Christ and wonderful outlook on life were an inspiration to me. I could not attend the funeral as I was out of town, which I much regret.

If the family reads this, please get in touch (my email is provided) with me so I can obtain a funeral remembrance card, which you likely have still. I will keep the family in my prayers, and Walt without question is with God. God Bless.

Sorry to hear about Walt. He always took care of the furnace when I knew him from the Church of God on 4th Ave, when Rev Denham was there. A very nice man who I always liked being around.
