Emery "Butch" Counterman

Emery “Butch” V. Counterman, 76, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 10:17 p.m. in Union Hospital.  Butch was born November 16, 1941 to Russell Counterman and Laura Counterman Heflin.  He worked as a hod carrier.  Butch Married Donna “LaBounty” Counterman on February 23, 1964.  He was a member of Tabernacle or Praise Church in New Goshen Indiana.  Butch loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the many family gatherings.  He is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law Marjorie Strange; son Bobby Counterman; sisters, Margaret James (John) Rosemary Ritchey, Doris Armstrong, and Brenda Lawrence.  Butch is survived by his son Chuck Counterman; four grandchildren Jared (Tara) Counterman, Brittany (Leslie) Counterman, Ashley (Danny) Counterman, and Tyler Counterman; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Rylan, Olivia, Sophia; eight siblings, Shirley (Allen) Grassick, Russ and Cheryl Counterman, Wayne(Jan) Counterman, Herb and Linda Counterman, Dee (Jim) DeBugue, Joey and Candi Heflin, Marcia Coon, Julie and Davie Davis.  He has also left behind many extended family members, nieces, nephews; and a special brother-in-law Shary Lawrence.  Visitation for Butch will be held on Tuesday January 16, 2018 from 11-1 with services starting at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.  Reverend John Wheeler and Reverend Bill Benton will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help with the service. “I do you Too”
