Yvonne had twelve great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, and nephews who she loved dearly. As well as special friends, Judy Rader, Liz McCowen, Amber Wolfe, Rex & Betty Fields, Jim & Kathi Elliot, and Tanya Parsley were dear to her heart. Yvonne shared a nurturing and motherly love for Erica McWilliams (Matt), Terri Boyd (Kevin), John Jones (Bonnie), Rhonda Readence, and Joe Hyde. She loved them like her own children.
Those who knew Yvonne will remember her amazing cooking, love of all things purple, her stylish sense of fashion, and her beautiful smile that would light up any room. Yvonne lived a life filled with love for her family and friends as well as her granddogs, Cooper, Charlie, and Lily.
Yvonne worked for many years at Kmart in the camera and jewelry department, before retiring from Powell Stephenson Lumber in 1993. Yvonne was a member of First Congregational Church, Mayflower Guild. As a single parent, Yvonne’s mission was to live for and raise her four sons, where she taught them how to enjoy the beauty of life, how to work hard, and how to be good and kind. Her contagious laugh, compassion, and unending strength will not be forgotten. Yvonne carried within her a light that acted as a beacon to everyone who knew her. The warmth and kindness that radiated from her gave solace to many and her calm and gentle demeanor could soothe even the most troubled heart.
Yvonne's life was one of kindness and she would prefer her loved ones to celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing. "Fear not, for I am with you." (Isaiah 41:10). Yvonne will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Her family would like to thank all the loving and caring staff and residents at The Commons at Honey Creek as well as the VNA Hospice of Wabash Valley for the exceptional care she received. They went above and beyond all expectations. Their love and generosity will always be remembered.
