Wilbur R. Hill, 103, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday April 10, 2022 in his residence. He was retired from Sun Oil Company. Wilbur was born September 24, 1918 in Sullivan County to Oral and Ethel (Adams) Hill. He is survived by his loving wife of 82 years, Pauline (Hoopengarner) Hill; son, Dan R. Hill; grandchildren, Andrew Hill, Matthew Hill, Kristen Hill, and Melisa Weaver; several great-grandchildren; three nieces, two nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded by a son, Robert Hill; sisters, Norma Jean Eldridge and Pauline Fields and brothers, Charles Hill and Walter Hill. Wilbur was a US Navy veteran of WW II. A member of the Prairie Creek American Legion Post #404, life member of Lawton-Byrum Post #972 VFW; Sullivan Elks, Social Lodge #86 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, and the Zorah Shrine. He was also a member of the United Methodist Temple. Visitation will be Friday April 15, 2022 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Gadlage officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
