Venita Gastineau Obituary

Venita Elaine Gastineau, 86, passed away on May 23, 2021. SHe was born on June 5, 1934 to John B. Fox and Ruth M. McKenzie.  Venita is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Melvin Ray Gastineau; sister Patsy Timberman, as well as her grandchild Olivia Gastineau. She is survived by her sons Jeffrey Gastineau (Carla), Doug Gastineau, and Wesley Gastineau (Rhonda); grandchildren Zoey Gastineau, Heather Morgan (Andy), and Noah Gastineau; greatgrandchildren Madison, Lily, and Aubrey Morgan.  Venita was a lifetime member of Terre Haute First Baptist Church.  She retired after 35 years of teaching at West Vigo. She was also a member of Retired Teachers Association, Retired Indiana State Teachers Association, and Mended Hearts.  She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles such as crosswords.  She liked traveling; traveling to Mexico several times with her students, as well as Hawaii and Ireland. Visitation for Venita will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, May 26 from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM with services starting at 1:00 PM.  Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park will follow.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either mended Hearts or Riley’s Children Hospital.
