Velma Knickerbocker Obituary

Velma Jean Knickerbocker, 83, of Terre Haute, Indiana was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on May 1, 2021.  She was born March 13, 1938 in Portage, Pennsylvania to Earnest Nelson Smith and Catherine Velma Hazlett.

Velma married Cloyce Eugene Knickerbocker on August 11, 1956 in Wayne County, Michigan where they had three children.  They later moved to Terre Haute where they permanently resided to raise their family.  She is survived by her three children, Steve Knickerbocker (Colleen), Tammy Little (Brad), and Audra Aldrich (Don); seven grandchildren, Shane Knickerbocker, Donnie Aldrich, Kelly Huebner, Mandi Little, Shelby VanBritson, Tyler Little, and Sean Knickerbocker; eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Her heart was as sweet and pure as the love she had for her family.  She loved the Lord, Elvis Presley, and laughing with her loved ones.  She was so proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She made it her lifelong duty to instill the love of Jesus into their lives and spoke daily about the unconditional love that she had for her “babies”.  There are not words to express how much her family will miss hearing her say “Hi sunshine”, “Give me some sugar”, and “I love you, honey”.  On behalf of her family, we are broken by the void she will leave in all of our hearts, but find peace in knowing that she entered heaven’s gates ushered in by her loving husband, Cloyce.  We will hold onto her memory as tight as the hugs and kisses she embraced with each one of us.  We love you, Mom.  We love you, Grandma Knick.

Due to Covid-19 private services will be held.  DeBaun Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
