Roy Hunt Obituary

Roy E. Hunt 97, lifetime Vigo County resident, went home to be with the Lord and loved ones on November 16, 2020. He was born on August 13, 1923 to Lester and Lucille (Payne) Hunt.  He married Mary L. (Bates) Hunt on October 4, 1947 and she preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by a daughter Mary Lynn Hunt and her husband Ted, a step-son Gerald Edson and his wife Carolyn,  a granddaughter Molly Kerr and two great grandchildren, Connor Kerr and Avery Kerr,  a sister-in-law Margaret Hunt and brother-in-law Dick Loveall, many nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, brothers Leon Hunt, Robert Hunt, and Dale Hunt, sister Carolyn (Hunt) Loveall, son-in-law Danny Kerr and sister-in-law Barbara Hunt.

Roy was in sales most of his life, working at Smiths Hardware as manager for 30 years. He also ran a grocery store in Youngstown alongside his wife Mary for several years.  He retired from Franklin Life Insurance where he worked alongside his brother Dale.  He was an Army Veteran of WWII.  A longtime member of Farmers Chapel Church.

Roy was a wonderful dad, husband, grandpa and friend.  He was a man of faith and a good example of his love of God and family.  He will be greatly missed.

Roy enjoyed winters in Florida at Braden Castle with his wife Mary for many years. He loved cutting grass at his home on the lake in Vigo county and making things look neat and tidy. He loved helping others, and was ALWAYS there for his family to help in any way he could.

He loved music, especially gospel duets, trios, and quartets.  He loved church and a good game of Euchre, taking rides, and sight-seeing.  He enjoyed visiting friends in the nursing homes.
