Rodrick Harold Dix, 64, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully on October 24, 2020 at the Gibson Hospice Center, surrounded by his family, following a long battle with cancer. He was born June 3, 1956, in Linton, Indiana to Gerald L. Dix, Sr. and Joan Hadley Dix. He grew up in Hymera, Indiana and graduated from North Central High School in 1974.
He is survived by his parents Gerald Dix (Carol), of Terre Haute, and Joan Dix (Barry), of Riley; his sister Peggy Mills of Marshall, Il; his three children Tyler Dix (Amy), of Terre Haute; Sarah Barnes (Chad) of Brazil; Kelsey Cooney (Jerry) of Fairbanks, and their mother, Julie Dix of Brazil; nine grandchildren, Brayden Cagle, Jayce Dix, Zakary Dix, and Haley Dix; Conner Barnes, Caden Barnes, and Cameron Barnes; Mallory Cooney and Maxwell Cooney; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Dix.
Rod owned several businesses including Beds and Bags, Accounting Data Corporation, and Tri-County Tire. He loved being outdoors and with his mechanical abilities, he could fix anything.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor J.C. Neff officiating. Burial will be at Pogue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UMG Oncology in the Hux Cancer Center or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
