Rod Alsman Obituary

Rod Alsman, 62, of Worthington, IN, passed away on April 26, 2019 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

Rod was born to Beulah (Rose) and Billie Alsman, June 26, 1956, in Sullivan, IN.  He graduated from Sullivan High School in 1974 and received an associate degree from Ivy Tech and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University. He married his wife, Cathy, in 1977 and together, they raised two daughters – Erin Robertson (and JJ – Indianapolis) and Katie Alsman (Chicago).

In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by two grandchildren (Eli and Leah Robertson – Indianapolis), a brother, Bill Alsman (and Cheryl – Sullivan), and several nieces and nephews.

Rod is proceeded in death by his mother and father; and sister, Leandra Hughes.

Rod worked at Breed Plant in Fairbanks, IN until he became a professor and industrial technology program chair at Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute, IN. In 1996, he founded AIT, Inc. in Farmersburg, IN – an industrial maintenance training and consulting firm – from which he retired in 2014.  He and Cathy were longtime residents of Sullivan, IN and had recently moved back to the area from Burleson, TX.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2pm at DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, IN.  Guests may call before the service from 1 – 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana.
