Robert Walls Obituary

Robert Gene Walls, 90, of Terre Haute passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Westminster Health & Rehab Center. He was born December 4, 1927 in Terre Haute to Virgil and Ida (Dove) Walls. Bob served both the Army and the Navy first being drafted during World War II and then once again during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Alta, on June 18, 1950. He worked for 16 years at Hulman and Company as well as 25 years for Sears. Following his retirement he then worked for the Vigo County Assessor’s office for 22 years. Bob was a member of the Union Baptist Church and was a past deacon. He was a member of the American Legion Post #328, served as Master of the Praireton Masonic Lodge and was a 50 year Mason. He loved sports and was a fan of ISU Basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alta, daughter Debbie McKay (Dwight), sons; Daniel Walls (Debra) and Jay Walls (Angela), grandchildren; Michael Walls (Jessica), Kristen Tuberosa (Donovan), Holly Verdeyen (Andy), Ryan McKay (Lindsay), Tasha McCoy, Halee Walls, Mackenzie Walls, and Darren Zaremba, eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Gertrude Godschalk, and two brothers Charles T. Walls and Rex Walls.

A special thank you goes out to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, the staff and caregivers of Westminster Health and Rehab and Pastor Rod Maris for all your kindness during this time of need.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with serviced to follow at 1:00 p.m. Both military honors and Masonic service will take place. Pastor Rod Maris will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Bob to Union Baptist Church or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
