Robert A. Miller, 84, of Terre Haute passed into the Lords arms Friday, August 13, 2021 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital with his family by his side. He was born July 23, 1937 in Terre Haute to Frank Miller (Molnar) and Margaret Miller. Bob served his country in the U.S. Marines in Okinawa, Japan. Following an honorary discharge he worked for the C & EI Railroad. He then worked as an over the road trucker for 40 years. This took him on many adventures throughout the country. Bob loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many days enjoying trips to Kentucky with family. He retired in 2014 after being diagnosed with renal cancer that he courageously battled like a champion for 7 years. During his battle, he encouraged and inspired many along the way. Always showing up with a smile and a wise crack to ease the stress. The family would like to graciously thank those who walked beside him and encouraged him. He loved his doctors and staff. A special thanks to Dr. Mendoza and Dr. Chakrabarti and his wonderful staff at the Hope Center including Amy, Michelle, Jan, Holly, and Dr. Shah. His visits to the infusion center were the highlight of his week. His friends there included Lacey, Michele, Deb, Alyssa, and others. Also thanks to Dr. T. Schmitz and Dr. Favila. The crew at St. Vincent Clay Hospital. A Special friend Angie, who hung out with him and encouraged him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cindy Miller, daughter Andrea Hancock, son Robert “Joey” Miller (Katie), grandchildren Amanda (Mark), Camaren, Jeffrey (Taylor), Jacquie, and one to arrive in September. Siblings Barbara Vaccarello, John Miller (Shannon), Eddie Miller, Ronnie Miller (Carol), and Donnie Miller. Special friends Terry and Michaela Wells, Jami (his favorite waitress), Bob Norder and Orville Combs. His loyal companions Lilly, Lady and Jaxon. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, , brother Frank Miller, sister Mary Elizabeth Miller, mother-in-law Betty Rippy, son-in-law Jeff Hancock, brother-in-law Pete Vaccarello , his loyal companions Blitzy, Kalea, Skye, Rylee, and Buddy.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Catholic Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in honor of Bob to your local Humane Society, or for trees to be planted in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
