Robert Jenkins Obituary

Robert “Bob” Jenkins began his life on March 20, 1941 and went to be with his Savior on July 10, 2018.

Bob was an avid gardener.  He supplied his family with fresh vegetables every summer and loved trying new varieties.  He shared many plants with friends that he started from seed.  After retirement he became a Master Gardener and enjoyed the volunteer opportunities the club offered.  He also raised and showed Checkered Giant Rabbits throughout the country, winning many awards.

He worked for Columbia Records as a data systems analyst and had a feed and garden store.  Bob worked as a real estate agent and sold houses for his brother Rick.  He was a New Goshen Fireman and Rescue Volunteer, serving almost 44 years.  He had a good sense of humor and couldn’t resist joking around.  Many of his friends called him Jinx and laughed along with him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Mary Ellen and Howard “Dutch” Jenkins and his granddaughter Kory Calderhead.  Bob is survived by his wife Nancy, son Jeff of Tampa, daughters; Diana  (Josh Roscrow) of Lake St. Louis and Krystal (Mike Calderhead ) of Concord, North Carolina, granddaughters; Michelle (Phillip Gross) and Allyssa (Derek Fleetwood),  grandson Mason Calderhead , great-grandson Anderson Gross, sister Carol (Jerry Denton) and brother Rick (Dayle Jenkins ) of Terre Haute.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Kings Harvest Church located at 1801 Harding Avenue, Terre Haute.  Pastor Butch Leek will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob’s honor to Pulmonary Rehab of Union Hospital at 1606 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804 or to the New Goshen Fire and Rescue at P.O. Box 225, New Goshen, Indiana 47863.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
