Richard Wissler Obituary

Richard Neal Wissler passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2023.  He was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 1, 1944, to Ralph and Marjorie Long Wissler.  Neal graduated from Richmond High School in 1963.  After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force.  Neal was then employed at The Graphic in Richmond.  He later moved to Terre Haute where he worked at Ivy Hill, retiring in 2006.  Neal was a member of the Union Christian Church and the American Legion.  He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  After retirement, he along with his special friend of many years, Julie Dougherty, enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, country western dancing, and wine making.  Neal was an avid gardener and loved canning what they grew.

Neal is survived by his beloved companion, Julie Dougherty, son Randy Wissler, daughter Ann Shultz (Kevin), grandchildren Kaelynn Shultz, Jacque Jennings, and Kyler Shultz; great grandchild Colton Jennings, brother Keith Wissler (Shelly), sister Diane Effing, three nephews and two nieces.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Ron Effing, and nephew Jeremy Effing.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
