Richard Gene “Dick” Van Gilder, Sr., 87, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday November 20, 2019 in his residence. He was a retired manager at CBS Records. He was born January 1, 1932 in Terre Haute to Willard and Edna (Corby) Van Gilder. Dick is survived by his son, Richard “JR” Van Gilder, Jr.(Debbie); sisters, Shirley Van Gilder and Jackie Pastorius; brother, David Van Gilder; granddaughter, Shelby Van Gilder and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Rose (Edmonds) Van Gilder, who died May 5, 2009; grandson, Richard Trey Van Gilder III; sisters, Linda Sullivan, Carolyn Jones, Betty Rose Fuqua, and Jane Garloch and his special companion “Indy”. Dick was a veteran of the US Army and member of the Riley American Legion Post #328. He was also a member of Union Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Lions Club. Per Dick’s request no services are scheduled and cremation has been chosen. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to give a special thanks to Shirley Hartstock and Ted Lee and also the staff at Westminster Village and Hospice of the Wabash Valley for all of the care and kindness they have shown to Dick and the family during this time.
