Richard Edgington Obituary

Richard Lee Edgington, 70, of Terre Haute passed away August 7, 2020. He was born on December 29, 1949 to John W. Edgington and Mildred A. Anderson Edgington.  Richard is preceded in death by both parents; Brother Raymond Edgington, as well as a granddaughter, Chelsey Edgington.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Vivian Edgington; Son Brad Edgington (Erin); Daughter Crystal Burton (Brad); Grandchildren Garrett Murphy, Destiney Weaver (Luke), Hannah Murphy, Dylan Edgington, Dalton Edgington, Evan Murphy, and Trinity Edgington; Step-grandchildren Haylee Harden, Cody Harden, Wesley Burton, Darion Burton, and Brianna Burton; Half-sisters Barbara June, Lori Munsell (Dale); Half-brother Rusty Neighbors; Great-grandson Kolton Murphy, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Rick was a proud Army Veteran.   He was a Vietnam Combat Veteran during 1969-1970 earning two Bronze Stars.  He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.  Rick was also a member of Faith Wesleyan Church.  Before his retirement in 2002 Rick was Fire Chief at the Praireton Fire Department for 13 years, the fire inspector at Honey Creek Fire Department, and also an EMT and worked on the Ambulance service.  Rick owned and managed the family farm. He also worked Machine repair at Essex Wire and Pillsbury.  Rick loved driving his corvette and tinkering around in his garage, but more than anything Rick loved spending time with family, especially the grand kids.  Visitation for Rick will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, August 12th from 11:00 AM- 2:00 PM with services starting at 2:00 PM.  Burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery will follow. Pastor Kevin Dobson will be officiating.
