Ralph "Allan" A. Hodges

Ralph A. “Allan” Hodges, 87, of Prairie Creek, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at home surrounded by his beloved family.  He was born in Vigo County on March 31, 1935 to Ralph Bland Hodges and Sylvia Critchfield Hodges.  Allan was a lifelong farmer and logger.  He worked at Pfizer and Allis Chalmers.  Fred Myers always said, “If hard work ever killed anyone, Allan would have been gone a long time ago”.  He enjoyed playing basketball in high school. Allan was an avid hunter and lifetime member of the Prairie Creek Sportsman’s Club. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, as well as a member of the Shrine Lodge.  Allan knew everyone and served 50 years on the Prairie Creek advisory board of Prairie Creek Township.  He and June attended the Community Church of Farmersburg. Most of all Allan loved to spend time with his family and June's family. 

He is survived by his wife of ten years, June Hodges, his children Connie Cunningham (Daryl), Les Hodges, Cathy Morley (Andy), Gil Hodges (Cindy), Lisa Parker (Dan), and Nick Hodges (Christi); grandchildren Christina Vandivier, Teresa Carey, Doug Humphrey (Kelly), Danielle Parker, Tiffany Carter (David), Christina Johnson (Jeff), Kelley Cunningham, Drew Morley (Ashley), Jessica Morley (Cam), Will Morley, and Lucas Hodges; several great-grandchildren, sister Phyllis “Bunny” Kessner, many lifelong friends including Mike Strain, Bobby Caton, Randy Swalls, Barrett Piety, Jack Scarborough, Eddie Chickadaunce, and Rock Kress, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.  Allan is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 57 years, Nancy Hodges, sister Erma Drake, and brother in law Bob Drake.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Eddie Myers will officiate.  Burial will follow at Prairie Creek Westlawn.  A special thank you to the special nurses of Hospice of the Wabash Valley and to his special caregiver, Missi Daugherty.
