Porter Don Lofton, 93, passed away on February 25, 2026. He was born February 12, 1933 in Shelburn to Max D. Lofton and Garreta (Ely) Lofton. He graduated from Gerstmeyer in 1951, and then served two years in the U.S. Army. After the service, he was employed at First Financial Bank for 43 years, retiring in 1995. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, particularly during crow season. He was also a talented artist and woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nila Lofton; daughter Kathy Moody (Steve), Julie Gaskill (Greg), Stacy Thompson (Rick), and Amy Thompson (Randy); grandchildren Addie Siddens (Chad), Sarah Curry (Bob), J.D. Moody (Christina), Matt Mounts, Lori Mounts, Tim Thompson (Emily), Zeb Thompson (Lisa), and Wesley Thompson; 19 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brothers Dan Lofton and Gary Lofton, sister Patty Mundell, and many nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by both his parents, sister Betty Ripple, and grandson Jacob Thompson.
Per Don’s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home.
