Pearl “Pauline” Steward, 91, a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Thursday November 12, 2020 at Westminster Village in Terre Haute. She was born June 10, 1929 in Terre Haute to Byron “Austin” and Essie “Pearl” (Slavens) Lampton. Pauline is survived by her sons, John Austin Steward (Patricia) of Atlanta and Brian David Steward (Elizabeth) of Denver; grandchildren, Austin Steward of Indianapolis, Amber Wellum (Robert) of Marshall, Illinois, John Andrew Steward of Salt Lake City, and Sarah Kathryn Steward of Denver; great-grandchildren, Pierce and Jackson Wellum of Marshall, Illinois and sister-in-law, Ramona Lampton of Lima, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Steward, who she married in 1951; son, Steven Alan Steward, and brother, Burel “Jack” Lampton. Pauline attended Maryland Elementary School and was a proud 1947 graduate of Honey Creek High School. She lived almost her entire life on the south side of Terre Haute. She was a member of Maryland Community Church and was active in the American Business Women’s Association. Through the years, she worked at Ruben-Donnelly Company and Fuqua Elementary School. Pauline loved traveling, gardening, arts and crafts, holiday decorating, and music. For decades, she attended the Indianapolis 500 with her family, and she was a fan of the Indiana State University Sycamores. Graveside services will be Tuesday November 17, 2020 at 1:00 pm in Grandview Cemetery with Pastor Vince McFarland officiating. Burial will follow.
