Paul Stephen Smith, 72, passed away December 13, 2020 in Bradenton, FL. He was born on January 27, 1948. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Paul William Smith and Geraldine (Bates) Smith as well as his grandson Charles Edgar Smith of Seymour. He is survived by his son Michael and his children Grant Smith and Evan Smith of Seymour; son Brent Bones and wife Melinda, and their daughter Karina; daughter Lori Smith Kij and her husband Mike and their son Dalton Kij of Florida; Daughter In Law Christina Grant Smith; and longtime companion Theresa Liston, as well as her family.
Paul was a 1966 graduate of Honey Creek High School then later graduated from Indiana State University where he had become a member of the Kappa Sig Fraternity. He taught drafting at Robinson, Illinois High School while commuting back to Terre Haute. Prior to becoming a Banker, Paul worked as the Director of Area Planning in Terre Haute. He served as Branch Manager and Loan Officer at Merchants Bank, which later became Old National, later as S.V.P. and Branch Administrator at First Farmers State Bank, before retiring from Terre Haute Savings Bank as V.P. Branch Manager, Loan Officer.
Paul was an active member Lodge 292 in Pimento, Lodge of Perfection Scottish Rite, where the 33rd Degree was Bestowed upon him, Zorah Shrine, Bunker Hill, and Camel Herders, as well as The Jesters of the Wabash Valley. Paul also belonged to the Riley Legion, Terre Haute Eagles, Moose Terre Haute Lodge 1009 and the Bradenton, FL VFW.
Paul loved hunting, fishing, and entertaining family and friends at Paintmill Lake. Paul also enjoyed farming alongside his dad during his spare time. He spent the winter months at Braden Castle Park in Bradenton, FL.
A celebration of Life will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel at on Sunday, January 17, 2021 with visitation from 12:00-3:00 PM followed with Masonic services starting at 3 PM and burial at Hull Cemetery. In leu of flowers please donate to Shriners Hospital for Children
