Paul E. Dudley, 72, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 28, 1949, in Terre Haute to George W. Dudley and Elfie J. Auterson Dudley. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed bowling, fabricating, troubleshooting, and helping others. Paul drag raced for many years. He was both a driver and a crew chief. Paul was a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 157. He worked at Pfizer as a welder, retiring after 25 years. There wasn’t a lazy bone in his body. He was always working, and he loved it. Paul would always say, “You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone” and he was right. His family and friends are going to miss him immensely. He was an important part of so many lives.
Paul is survived by his wife of 33 years, Yvonna Dudley, son Edward C. Dudley (Charity), granddaughter Alayna Dudley, sister Edna Sharp, brother George Dudley, Jr., father-in-law and mother-in-law Kenneth and Cookie Strain, brother-in-law Ken Strain (Kathy), several nieces and nephews, as well as many lifelong friends made during the decades of racing. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer L. Dudley, sister Karen Mickler, and brothers James Jones and Richard Keyes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Service will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Chris Wilbur will officiate.
