Michael Ray Poinsett

Michael Ray Poinsett, 66, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Monday, July 14, 2025 in his home.  He was born on January 11, 1959 to Ace Franklin Poinsett and Josephine Jesse (Farthing) Poinsett.  Michael retired from the United States Navy as Master Chief, while also working for the Bureau of Federal Prisons for 30 years.  Michael was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church along with his loving wife of 39 years, Angela (Labampa) Poinsett. 

Michael loved to go fishing and play golf.  He also enjoyed bourbon hunting and collecting.  He was a big fan of March Madness and loved to root for the University of Michigan football team.

Michael is survived by his mother; wife; son Stevie Poinsett (Brittany); daughter Michelle Miller (Branden); brother Brad Poinsett (Debra); sister Debbie Whitt; and grandchildren Gabe, Echo, and Cove.

Michael is preceded in death by his father and brother Randy Poinsett.

A public visitation will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home Springhill Chapel on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, with prayer service beginning at 7:00pm.  Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00am at St Margaret Mary Church in Terre Haute, Indiana.  Online condolences may be made at
