Mary Catherine White Couchman, 93, of Terre Haute, became a citizen of heaven on November 12, 2021. She was at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on a small farm in Paris, Illinois to Clarence Fuqua and Madge Christman Fuqua on January 9, 1928. She retired from being a secretary of Dixie Bee Elementary School after 25 years and then worked as a secretary for Mount Pleasant Church for 12 years. Mary Catherine spent her time and energy serving her savior, Jesus Christ, in many capacities.
She is survived by her son Ed (Karen) White, daughter Ronda (Ted) Hamelmann, daughter-in-law Suzie White, grandchildren Michael (Jenny) Hamelmann, Mark (Stephanie) Hamelmann, Megan (Ryan) McGee, Alicia (Jessie) Derrington, Ron (Ashley) Nicholas, Matt (Dani) White, and 15 great grandchildren. Sister in laws Sue Fuqua and Ida Chandler. Daughters Julie (Chuck) Watson, Jeanette (Ned) Turner, grandchildren Craig (Leslie) Watson, Merrilee (Matt) McClanahan, David Watson, Sarah Grace (Ryan) Wall, Rachel Turner, Elizabeth (Tim) Lewis and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Howard White, son Bill White, granddaughter Christie White, her parents, brother Bob Fuqua, and her husband Bill Couchman.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rick Swan will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Pleasant’s Missions Fund or 14th & Chestnut Community Center.
