Marilyn Rose Kaniewski O’Donnell, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Marilyn was born April 30, 1939, to Edwin and Rosalie Stephanie Kaniewski in her grandmother's home in Milford, Illinois.
She began her employment before graduation from Williamsport High School in May of 1957 and started her career at The DeMatte Agency in Williamsport. Marilyn was also employed at Cotter and Company in Chicago, Illinois and Merchants National Bank in Terre Haute. She retired after 35 years with the Vigo County School Corporation in 2006, having worked in the Administration Building at Terre Haute South High School, and retiring from Woodrow Wilson.
Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and jig saw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. O’Donnell, in 2002; her parents, grandparents, Pauline Cherry who was reared as a sister to her, brother David E. Kaniewski, and her sister-in-law Judith Kaniewski. Marilyn is survived by several cousins and other extended family.
Cremation was entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home. Marilyn will be interred in West Lebanon Cemetery.
