Marie Louise Halstead, 104, of Terre Haute, passed away on August 3, 2020 with family by her side in her daughter’s home in West Terre Haute. Marie was born on April 13, 1916 in Terre Haute to Harry Kunz and Margreen Reese Kunz. On August 19, 1939 she married Walter “Punk” Halstead, who preceded her in death on December 21, 1972. Marie is survived by her daughter Diana Selvia (Bill); three grandchildren, Lauri Fritz (Chris), Greg Selvia (Trudy), and Kristen Butler (Steve); four great-grandchildren, Brand Selvia, Gabrielle Selvia, Creed Fritz, and Christopher Fritz; sister Virginia Hamelmann; several nieces and nephews as well as a special little friend Haisley. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and great-granddaughter Rae-Ann Fritz. Marie enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, as well as quilting at church. She was a lifetime member of United Methodist Temple. Marie was employed at The State Highway Department in her younger years then later at Hendrick Abstract Office. She retired from Vigo Wade Abstract. After retirement her time was spent with her family. Visitation for Marie will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, August 10th from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with services starting at 1:00 PM. Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park will follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital. The family would like to give a special thanks to Harrison’s Crossing for the care she was given in the four years she spent there, as well as Southern Care Hospice for the kind treatment she received while at home during her last 3 months.
