Lula Maxine Key, 91, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020. She was born February 26, 1928 in Chesterville, Illinois to Andrew Bell Key and Gertrude Hazel (Burch) Key. Maxine was a beautician and owner of Maxine’s Salon in Madison, Alabama. In 2000 Maxine moved from Madison to Terre Haute. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Maxine was an avid crocheter, enjoyed word search puzzles, loved animals and flowers and flower arranging, and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her brother Harold D. Key (Lois Ann Key) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, niece Marsha Loscheider, nephews Tom Sutton and Brent Sutton, nieces Lee Ann Ryberg, Lynn McDermott, and Carrie Ayers, and nephew Jason Key. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Loraine G. Sutton and Katherine J. Minor, and brother William Key of Jacobson, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon. Services will begin at 12 Noon. Pastor Dennis Ticen will be officiating. Burial will follow services at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Martinsville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in honor of Maxine to the Terre Haute Humane Shelter.
