Lois Louise Notter, 97, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025. She was born on November 19, 1928, in Creston, Iowa to the Reverend George E. Mitchell and Frances M. Brown Mitchell. Lois was a beloved wife, mother and granny. She loved being with her family. Lois loved the outdoors, camping, reading, and feeding the birds. She remained very active throughout her life and enjoyed traveling with the First National Bank Travel Club, spending time at the Merom Senior Center, and the Senior Center in Terre Haute. Lois was very happy and easy-going. When asked how she was, the answer was always “fine and dandy”. She lived at Cobblestone Crossing for nearly 9 years. There she participated in many activities and enjoyed the staff and residents. They truly made these last several years happy ones for her.
Lois is survived by her children, Jim Notter (Penelope), Linda Helt (Leonard), Bill Notter (Vicki), Reed Notter (Julie), and Carolyn Alexander; grandchildren, Kimberly, Chris, Laurie, Jonathan, Lisa, Joe, Michelle, Samantha, Reed Lucas, Michael, and Chad; twenty-four great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of nearly 56 years, Thomas Notter, grandson Jimmy Notter, brother James Mitchell, and sister-in-law Jean Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Cobblestone Crossing for the love and care given to Lois.
