Leona Maxine (Hunt) Thompson 86, of Terre Haute slipped into her eternal life on July 28, 2022, at Springhill Village. Born April 9, 1936, she was the daughter of Melvin and Edith Hunt. She loved to travel and go camping. Her favorite place to travel was to Florida and South Carolina with the one and only love of her life, her husband, Monty. The memories the two made together over the years were amazing and the love they shared together was truly inspiring. Love does conquer all. I cannot promise you easy life, or that I will not disappoint you. I cannot promise that I will be the perfect wife, but I can promise you that I will choose to love you every day, and that she did. Her children were her greatest joy. A mother’s heart is always with her children, day and night, even if they are not with her. She will always love them. She married on December 27, 1952, to Montell Thompson. She has one son, Monty Thompson (wife Lynn) of Clinton, three daughters; Judy Stilwell (husband Dennis) of Springhill, MO, Tammy Roberts (husband Jack), and Sharon Rice (husband Brian) all of Terre Haute. She has two brothers Jim Hunt, Carl (Carol) Hunt and two sisters, Joy Webb and Sue (Kenny)Gardner. Her grandchildren; Melanie Popovich, Nicholas Stilwell, Whit Roberts, Kayla Singhurse, Shawn King, Jennifer Stephens, Chris King and Jessica Mahalek. Several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Melvin (Ed) Hunt, a daughter-in-law Joyce Thompson, a son-in-law Jeff King, two sisters-in-law Betty Jean Hunt and Terri Hunt, a brother-in-law Jim Webb and two great grandsons Dean and Tucker Singhurse. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kara, Lora and David at Springhill Village Nursing Home, and the entire staff. Thank you to Kindred Hospice for all your help, Sherri, Jackie and Steve.
