Jerome "Jerry" Joseph Eddy

Jerome “Jerry” J. Eddy, 87, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023.  He was born June 14, 1935 to Katherine Eddy and raised by Herb and Nellie Walters in Jasonville, IN.  Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 48 years Elizabeth (Coyne) Eddy.

He is survived by brother Joe Stevens (Ellen) of Goshen, IN; nephew James Stevens (Deborah) of Terre Haute, IN; niece Robin King, great-niece Piper King and sister-in-law Jean Hickman all of Avon, IN; and special companion of 18 years Jean Vibbert.  

Jerry attended Midland Grade and Jasonville High Schools. He joined the US Navy in 1953 and proudly served on the Midway and Tarawa aircraft carriers.  Jerry retired from Bemis Co. after 41 years. He was an avid reader and history buff, and enjoyed several hobbies including scuba diving, boxing, motorcycles, woodworking, and coin collecting. Jerry was a huge lover of animals and often befriended stray cats and dogs, as well as the neighboring birds, squirrels, raccoons and opossums. He was also a member of the Agape Christian Church, as well as the American Legion.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with service immediately following.  Pastor Dave Rawls will officiate.  Interment of cremains will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Terre Haute Humane Society or Cross Veterinary Clinic.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
