James “Jim” R. Tidd, 87, of Lewis passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He was born on July 23, 1938, in Terre Haute to Vernon G. Tidd and Viola Maxine Bown Tidd. Jim was an electrician by trade and was very skilled. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and blacksmithing. His paradise was his family home on the farm. Jim was a longtime active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a very giving person and was so grateful for the Veteran’s who gave service to our country. Most of all, Jim was a family man. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his proudest accomplishments.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of almost 37 years, Jeanette Tidd, daughters Vicky Fears and Teresa Tidd (Troy), sons Jimmy Tidd, Jess Tidd (Jackie), and John Tidd (Sharon); stepson Jason L. Francis (Kim), stepdaughters Tammy Tant, Cheri Swalls (Jeff), Robin Johnson, and Kathy Francis; brother Thomas Tidd, 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren, and his canine companion Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Tidd, grandchildren Amanda Swalls, Jeremy Denny, Johnny Tidd and Brock Francis, brother Charles Tidd, sister Ramona Malhum, and stepdaughter Penny Cummings, as well as his beloved dog Buddy.
Service will be Monday, July 28, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1845 N 6th 1/2 St, Terre Haute beginning at 11:00 a.m. Ben Kulp will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations as a gift of love and support be made to his wife, Jeanette. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
