James Lester Higgins, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday November 22, 2020 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He retired in 1990 from the Laborer’s Local #204. He was born July 13, 1931 in Clark County, Illinois to Lester and Lola Alice (Lee) Higgins. James is survived by his sons, Jeff Higgins, Ron Higgins, and Russell Higgins; daughter, Angela Higgins; brother, Terry Higgins; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James Higgins and Theodore Higgins; brothers, Gilbert Higgins and Frank Higgins and sister, Lou Ellen Simmons. James was a US Army veteran of the Korean War where he earned a Bronze Star. Due to Covid-19 the family will be having a private graveside service in New Harmony Cemetery. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that for those who desire, donations may made to the charity of their choice.
