James Abrams Obituary

James Junior Abrams, 93, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023.  He was born February 25, 1929, in Sullivan County to James L. Abrams and Marjorie Thewlis Abrams.  James worked for many years at Public Service, Doxsee Foods, and was the Supervisor of Custodians at Indiana State University. He retired from ISU after many years of service.  James was a member of the Bible Holiness Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved working on his father’s farm and he was an avid gardener most of his life.

James is survived by daughter Diana Chambers (Terry), James David Abrams (Linda) of Paris, Illinois, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as one great-great grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty L. Abrams, granddaughter Brooke Abrams, brother Donald Abrams, and sisters Betty Foschoar and Evelyn Chambon.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Bible Holiness Church located at 2555 Layher Avenue, Terre Haute beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Pastor Wendell Kirkman will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Durham Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bible Holiness Church in honor of James.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
