Harold E. Reel

Harold Eugene Reel 76 of Terre Haute Indiana passed away January 3, 2021 in Union Hospital from complications with Pneumonia, COPD and congestive heart failure surrounded by family

Harold was born at Union Hospital on January 12, 1944 to Caleb Eugene Reel and Vera Catherine Tryon Reel.  Harold graduated from Gerstmeyer High School where he met Marline, his wife of 50 years.

Harold retired from US Army of 21 years as a staff sergeant where he and Marline made several good friends, Darrell Bryant (DD), Butch and Theresa Bingham and Loretta Cheney among several others.  They we’re all good life long friends .

After retiring in Leesville, Louisiana Harold and Marline moved to Terre Haute, Indiana.  Harold worked making biscuits at Hardee’s until he got a job working as a security guard.  He also worked at Putnamville Prison.  Harold’s hobbies were collecting watches, trading cars and trucks with Mike and Jenny Cox.  Harold and his family have dealt with Mike and Jenny Cox for many, many years and they were considered part of the Reel Family.

Harold is preceded in death by his wife Marline Kay Sutherland Reel, their son Virgil Allen Reel, granddaughter Tabitha Kay Stonebraker, his parents, and his beloved dog Stormy.

Harold is survived by his son Terry Lee (Lynda) Reel of Marshall, Illinois and his daughter Amanda Darlene Reel (David) White of Terre Haute, Indiana, his grandchildren Timothy Lloyd (Daniell) Swank Jr. Ashley Dawn (Jake)Wardell and Rodney Andrew (Katie) Reel, Elizabeth Catherine Reel, Dusten Ray Reel , Samantha Aron Reel, Allen David White and James Allen (Becky) White.  

Harold also had 10 great grandchildren 

When Harold started getting sick and moved in with his daughter, his Grandson Dusten stepped up and helped take care of him by taking him to doctors appointments, shopping or just helping him around the house .  Harold had a special bond with Dusten.

Visitation will be Saturday January 9, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Buress officiating.
