Gayle Pettit Obituary

Gayle Elaine Kidwell Pettit passed away on December 16, 2025.

Gayle was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, roles she cherished above all else. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her three children and four grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Gayle grew up in Sedalia, Missouri and attended Smith-Cotton High School, where she excelled in softball and dance. She later attended State Fair Community College with her husband, Randy. In 1977, they moved to Indiana, first settling in Lafayette before making Terre Haute their permanent home in 1980.

A natural leader with a strong work ethic, Gayle quickly advanced in her career at First Financial Bank. She was deeply involved in her community, volunteering countless hours, including running concession stands for Little League and Terre Haute South athletics. Her entrepreneurial spirit eventually led her to establish Pettit and Associates Photography, a business she proudly built and grew year after year.

Gayle is survived by her husband, Randy; her children, Caleb, Evan(Megan), and Ashley (Alex); and her beloved grandchildren, Maya, Mason, Peyton, and Sophie. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Kidwell (Karen), and her father, Jewell William Kidwell. She is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Kronk Kidwell Hall.

Gayle will be remembered for her leadership, determination, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned at this time, but donations to the American Cancer Research Center are welcomed.
