Gary Wayne Gaskins, also known as “Gas Cap”, 77, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He was born on March 4, 1949, in Terre Haute to Aaron Gaskins and Rose Mary Guy Gaskins. Gary was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving his country on the USS Hornet. While serving on the Hornet they picked up the astronauts from Apollo 11 & 12.
Gary was a member of the Cloven Hoofs motorcycle club since 1974. The brotherhood and comradery were such an important part of his life. He loved riding his Harley alongside his brothers. Gary was a talented musician, playing drums, bass guitar, and the harmonica. He was a member of the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame. Gary had a heart of gold and enjoyed the simple things in life. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nan Keil, daughter Tressie Stark, and sister Mari Gaskins. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Rose Mary Gaskins.
