Garold Dean Horrick, 86, of Terre Haute died Monday, November 23, 2020 after a long fight with kidney cancer. He was born February 7, 1934 in Warsaw, Indiana to Garold Raymond Horrick and Mae Minerva (Barton) Horrick. After graduating from Warsaw High School in 1952 he enrolled at Indiana University earning a degree in Business and Accounting. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, trained with the 101st Airborne Division and served as supply sergeant, serving three and a half years. Later he served once more in the Army Reserve for another four and a half years. He was in the I.U. Marching Band as well as the Military Band in Germany. Dean was a member of the Seelyville Methodist Church and the American Legion 346. Among the many accomplishments Dean made, he proudly marched with the band in the January 20, 1953 inaugural parade of Dwight D. Eisenhower and set many track and field records in high school and college.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Retha D. Horrick, daughter Debra Allen of Warsaw, Indiana, son James Horrick of Terre Haute, granddaughter Quinn Allen of Warsaw, grandson Jarred Allen of Pierceton, Indiana, sister Joan Horrick Reich(Charles) of St. Augustine, Florida, sister in law Sharon Roesch (Fred) of Terre Haute, and several nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19, no services or visitation will be held. Burial will be at a later date in Warsaw, Indiana. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society at https://www.thhs.org.
