Freda Maxine (Cesinger) Cornett

Freda M. Cornett, 95, passed away August 10, 2019 at Cobblestone Crossing.  She was born in Terre Haute to Matthew and Ina Cesinger.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry H. Cornett. Harry was the love of her life, the two were married for 60 years.  Also preceding Freda are her parents and nine brothers and sisters.  Freda is survived by her sister Judy Dupree of Acton, CA; Sister-in-law Betty Cesinger of Terre Haute, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her caretakers Sue and Jack Boehmer, as well as Diana and Darrel Thomas. Freda did work for The United States Signal Corps during World War II, repairing Airplane radios. Freda was the oldest living member of Union Christian Church.  She was active in the Sugar Grove Extension Homemaker Club, The Sewing Connection, A lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary;  Riley Post328, and American Legion Post 972. She also belonged to the Disabled American Veterans Post and the Sycamore Club.  Freda was an accomplished seamstress.  She made several dresses, suits, and coats, some of which were exhibited and even awarded at the Vigo County Fair and Indiana State Fair Fashion Review. Freda worked and retired from A&P Quaker Maid Plant, during which time she reigned over the 30 year celebration and in 1963 she was elected Queen of Ann Page. Freda graduated from Glenn High School.  Visitation for Freda will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home Springhill Chapel on Wednesday August 14, 2019 from 12-2:00 with services starting at 2:00 PM.
