Frances "Frankie" Rae Pohlman (Dix), 88, of Fairbanks, IN went to be with her Savior on March 20, 2026, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice in Terre Haute, IN with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Frankie was born in Sullivan, IN on March 29,1937 to Hughie and Dortha (Thomson) Dix, who proceed her in death.
Frankie was a member of the Fairbanks High-school class of 1955, serving as Valedictorian. She then received her Bachelor's degree in education from Indiana State Teachers College (ISU) in 1959, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and then her Master's in education at Colorado University in 1960.
After obtaining her education, she first taught at Perrysville and Graysville High-schools before then spending the majority of her career teaching business, typing, and English at North Central High-school in Farmersburg, IN, retiring in 1993. During her time teaching, she inspired many students, many of whom remember her fondly as a tough, but wonderful, educator.
She married William "Bill" Pohlman on June 22, 1963 at St. Mary's Church in Sullivan, IN.
During their nearly 54 year marriage, they traveled extensively all over the world, experiencing most of Europe, North/Central/South America, and Australia/New Zealand. Frankie spoke highly of her favorite place they visited, New Zealand, describing the breathtaking landscape. She also enjoyed camping at Spring Mill State Park, golfing, and vacationing with Bill and her children/grandchildren. Bill proceeded her in death in 2017.
Frankie loved the Lord and served Fairbanks Missionary Baptist Church faithfully as their piano player from 1956 to 2021, where she had been a member since childhood.
Frankie is survived by her children Brian Pohlman (Lori/Xavier) of Supulpa, OK and Christy Lee of Lewis, IN, her grandchildren Hannah Lee (Bryce Boring) of Bloomington, IN and Jacob Lee of Lewis, IN. She also leaves behind her beloved Boston Terrier, Kiki, who loved to snuggle up with her and was her favorite companion.
She loved her grandchildren with all her heart.
Her nephew David (Kim) Wolfe of Monticello, IN , brother in law Jerry (Debbie) Pohlman of Harrison, OH, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive her.
Frankie had many wonderful long-time friends and her church family who will miss her presence greatly as well.
Her younger sister Carol Wolfe (Dix) also proceeded her in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday March 25, 2026 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services on Thursday March 26, 2026 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Tom Melville officiating. Burial will follow in Pogue Cemetery.
