Dorothy Jane Peoples, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away October 2, 2020 at 4:18 pm with her son, Steve and her caregivers by her side. She was born December 23, 1928 in Terre Haute to Guy and Mary (Schomer) Whitlock. She is survived by her children, Steven M. Verbonitz, Carol Verbonitz, Tina Weir (Mike), Pat Miklozek, and Sam Peoples (Deb); brother, Dale Whitlock (Karen); 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Nancy Whitlock and Anita Whitlock and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lornen G. “Babe” Peoples; her parents; brothers, Bud Whitlock, Harold Whitlock, Ed Whitlock, Alan Whitlock, and Kenny Whitlock; sisters, Maxine Fields, and Betty Gregory. Dorothy had great caregivers by her side when she passed at home, including her son Steve, her niece, Kim Galloway, who was always there for her Aunt Dot, her granddaughter, Jamie Lawrence and great-granddaughter Harlie R. Dycus. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all the love and excellent care they provided Dorothy during her time of need. Private graveside services in Hull Cemetery are scheduled.
