Dorothy Ann (Parker) Clements

Dorothy Ann Clements, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Educator, of Sullivan and formerly of Bargersville passed away Sunday September 11, 2022 at the age of 83. 

She was born in Quincy, Indiana on November 1, 1938, to William and Hazel Parker.  She attended Eminence High School where she was a cheerleader and salutatorian of the class of 1956.  Dorothy was a Morgan County Fair Queen candidate.  She went on to obtain her BS and MS in Education from Indiana State College. She was a member of Alpha Omega Pi.  She married John A Clements on May 28,1960 at the Corinth Baptist Church in Martinsville, Indiana.

She began teaching at Center Grove HS in the fall of 1961.  During her career she taught Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.  She was nominated for Teacher of the Year multiple times during her career.  She retired in 1998 after 37 years. She continued to substitute teach for many years after retirement.

Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She taught them about cooking, gardening, math and much more. They all enjoyed yard sales, flea markets and camping trips together.  Dorothy enjoyed golfing, sewing, reading, puzzles, gardening and playing cards with her “girls”.

John and Dorothy lived in Bargersville for nearly 60 years. Here they raised their children, Christine Clements Rossman and Otto Clements.

Dorothy is survived by her children, daughter Christine Rossman (Albert), son Otto Clements (Susan), grandchildren Samantha (Rossman) Fransham (Martin), Bryan Parker Rossman, Sara Ann Rossman, Aaron Clements (Alex), and Anna Clark (William); great-grandchildren Vivian-Rose Fransham, William John Clark and Kendyl Ann Clements. Dorothy is also survived by siblings Carl Parker, William Parker, Blaine Parker, Robert Parker, Mary Parker and Barbara Merchant. She was preceded by her parents and siblings Judy Jones, Wanda Tomlinson and  George Parker.

 Graveside Service will begin Saturday September 17, 2022 at 3:00 p.m at Grandview Cemetery in Terre Haute.  Reverend Jeff Lee will be officiating.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Swartz Funeral Home located at 300 Morton Street, Franklin, Indiana, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Dorothy’s children and grandchildren will be there to welcome visitors.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Center Grove Education Fund at www.centergrovefoundation.org or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.  Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
