Donald "Donnie" C. Gibbons

Donald “Donnie” C. Gibbons, 77, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2020.  He was born on December 13, 1942 to Warren Gibbons and Mildred Hutson Gibbons.  He is proceeded in death by both parents; daughter Donna Ann Gibbons, as well as his brothers Jerry and Greg Gibbons. Donnie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Gibbons; daughter Krista Gibbons; son Donald W. Gibbons; stepson Brent Rice (Kris); sister Deb Taylor; step-granddaughter as well as step-great-grandchildren; his loving sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s; loving nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; also survived by his special second family the Ewings, Greg, Kelly, Abby, Matthew, Noah, and special friend Danielle.  Donnie also left behind his special baby girl Brookie “his dog” and many special friends. He was retired after working 44 years with the Milwaukee, CP, and then becoming Sooline Railroad. Donnie was what you’d consider a workaholic.  He had a great energy to him, and was known for his smile as well as his work ethic.  Donnie would always find himself loving on different stray dogs that would walk right up to him while he was working.  He could always make babies smile and laugh with him.  Donnie will be greatly missed, but his positive energy will certainly live on.  There will be a private family service held for Donnie on Saturday, April 25 at DeBaun Springhill at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Pastor Rick Swan will be officiating.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all of his family and friends to come together in remembrance on Donnie’s life.
