Mr. Donald Eugene "Don" Taylor, 78, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana at St. Francis Hospital. Born on January 31, 1947, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Don was known for his warm heart, unwavering kindness, and infectious laughter that could brighten any room.
A hardworking and gentle soul, Don had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh. He was a devoted husband and father. His commitment to spreading love and kindness was evident in every interaction he had. He was the type of person who would do anything for those around him—always willing to lend a helping hand or even give the shirt off his back. His generosity and compassion left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, and gardening. He was always outdoors raising hunting dogs and chickens or cutting up fallen trees for firewood. He also cared for and maintained the Taylor Memorial Chapel.
After graduating from North Central High School in Farmersburg in 1965, Don served in the US Navy from 1965 to 1969 in Vietnam. After Vietnam, Don worked in various factories before becoming a janitor at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
Don is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of fifty-three years of Pimento, Indiana; son, Patrick (Christina) Taylor; grandson, Bryon Taylor; step-grandchildren, Alexander and Mallory Harper of Plymouth Indiana; and brother, Paul Taylor of Byrdstown, Tennessee.
Don is preceded in death by two infant children, Jason Scott Taylor and Michelle Ann Taylor; parents, Seth and Nora Taylor; brother, Tom Taylor; and grandparents, Revered Russell and Eunice Taylor.
Family, friends, and all who were touched by Don’s kindness are invited to honor his life at a visitation on March 29, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm at DeBaun Funeral Home, located at 85 E. Springhill Dr., Terre Haute, Indiana 47802. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 12 pm at the funeral home. Afterwards, Don will be laid to rest during a graveside service at Westlawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, Indiana.
Don’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy of love and laughter continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
