Donald “Don” James Cvengros, 89, passed away August 17, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1936 in Clinton, IN to Michael Cvengros and Julia (Roth) Cvengros. Don married his high school sweetheart, Billie (Vitalie) Cvengros, and they were together for 69 years. He worked for the construction company that built the Eli Lilly plant in Clinton and then went on to work for Eli Lilly for 28 years before retiring in 1998.
Don has always had a love for athletics. While attending Clinton High School and Sacramento State College, he played on both the varsity football and basketball teams. Through the 1970s, he coached baseball and basketball youth leagues in Clinton, and he was also a founder of the Clinton youth football program. Don was a proponent of physical fitness his whole life and a prolific gardener up until the time of his passing.
He is survived by his children Laura Cvengros and Kevin Cvengros and goddaughter Jill Vitalie Hanna.
He is preceded in death by his wife, who passed away on November 7, 2024, both parents, and brothers Michael and Robert Cvengros.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:30 pm in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
