Donald Lee Johnson, 82, was born in Casey, IL, above the Chicken Hatchery, on October 19, 1938 to Charles Otis Johnson and Virginia Sylvia Snyder. Donald passed away March 14 at Springhill Village. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Ruth; sister Patricia Huber (Irv); daughter Tammy Terry (Greg); son Terry Johnson (Debi); daughter Toni Johnson, also a very special friend Beth Truax. He is also survived by grand-daughters Jennifer Clarkin (Brian), Christina Swafford, and Erin Terry; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as 4 step-sons, 6 step-grandkids, and 4 step-great grandkids. Don was in the Air Force Guard and Air Force Reserve. He graduated from ISU in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He had several careers as a teacher, professional Boy Scout, Indiana State Police Officer, and a semi driver. He was proud of having 3 million safe driving miles. Don was also one of the Charter Members of the Honey Creek Fire Department as well as the very first Assistant Chief Don enjoyed collecting die cast models of tractors, trucks, airplanes, and especially CAT equipment. Don was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, as well as the Shriners. He enjoyed travel, his favorite trips being an Alaska and a Panama Canal Cruise. Visitation for Don will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Saturday, March 20 from 1-3:00 PM with services starting at 3 PM. Burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery will follow. Pastor John Youngblood will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to New Beginnings Church, P.O. Box 555 Paris, IL 61944 or American Cancer Society.
