Terre Haute - Daniel Sumner Senseman, age 94, passed away peacefully at the Westminster Village in Terre Haute, IN on July 5, 2021. He was born March 12, 1927, in Bethel Township, Miami County, OH to Charles Sumner Senseman and Nettie Delaney Senseman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mae Senseman and his siblings: Charles Maynard Senseman, Jacob Roland Senseman, Fern Virginia Hoy, Ralph Burdette Senseman and Susan Evangeline Hoyt.

He was the father of David Senseman (Diane), Kenneth Senseman (Rita), Kathryn Laudick (James) and Robert Senseman (Stacey), grandfather of Gregory Laudick, Sarah Senseman, Daniel Laudick (Jordan), Austin Senseman (Megan), Katherine Senseman, Ann Laudick (Dan), Rachel Senseman, Elena Senseman and Megan Senseman. He has two great grandchildren: Charlotte Senseman and Rylie Senseman.

Prior to graduating from high school Daniel volunteered to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. He served on a LST ship in the Pacific Ocean in 1945 and 1946. He was also an avid Ohio State football fan attending games in Columbus, OH as early as 1946. Daniel received his BS from Manchester University in 1951. He was employed by the Peabody Seating Company in North Manchester, IN from 1951 until 1963. Daniel became the general manager of Lee Company, Inc. in Terre Haute, IN in 1963 eventually purchasing the company in 1983. He served as its President for over 30 years. Over time and under his leadership Lee Company grew into the dominant specialty contractor in Indiana renovating and building schools in every county in Indiana.

A successful businessman, at heart Daniel was a farmer. As a teenager he worked on his brother's farm north of Dayton, Ohio plowing, planting and cultivating with a team of two horses. After moving to Indiana, he purchased acreage and farm equipment fulfilling a lifelong dream of owning his own farm. He dearly enjoyed woodworking and metalworking assisting many family members, friends and neighbors in his beloved shop. He was always there to lend a hand. As a father and grandfather, he quietly took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.

A visitation is being held at the DeBaun Funeral Home 85 E Springhill DR, Terre Haute, IN on Friday, July 9th from 2 to 4PM a private graveside burial for the family at New Harmony Cemetery will take place at a later time.
