Dan Alan Watson, 71, passed away on October 6, 2021, at his home near Prairie Creek, Indiana. He was born on June 5, 1950, to Alan and Amy Watson.
He graduated from Honey Creek High School in 1968 and from Indiana State University in 1972. In 2009 at the age of 59 he completed a master’s degree in educational technology.
He loved serving as a deacon for many years at his lifelong church, Prairie Creek First Baptist Church. He also loved working in broadcasting as an engineer. He started his career at the age of 16 at WTWO as a photographer. He retired from the Office of Information Technology at Indiana State University.
Dan was a man of many hobbies and interests: SCUBA instruction and flying, guns and pipe organs, old clocks and pocket watches, slide rules and calculators.
He was preceded in death by his father, (Frank) Alan Watson. He is survived by his mother Amy Watson, his wife Lonna Watson, his sons Nathan and Matthew Watson (and Kara), his grandchildren Levi and Clair Watson, and his sister Paula McHenry (and Walter).
The funeral service will take place on Monday, October 11, at 1:30 at First Baptist Church in Prairie Creek, Indiana. He will be buried in West Lawn Cemetery west of Prairie Creek. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 until the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Care Hospice.
