Dale Edward Mowbray

Dale Mowbray, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by family. A proud veteran, devoted educator, and beloved father and grandfather, Dale lived a life marked by service, knowledge, and love.

Born in Clinton, Indiana, Dale was member of Clinton High School Class of 1959. As a young man he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Air Force, where he served with honor and distinction in Vietnam. His commitment to excellence and service carried over into civilian life, where he found his true calling in education.

Dale retired from Ivy Tech Community College after a distinguished career as an electronics instructor and later as part of the school’s administration.  He was passionate about teaching and took great pride in helping students build meaningful careers. Beyond the classroom, Dale played a key role in Ivy Tech’s growth by forging partnerships between the college and regional businesses in need of skilled workers — strengthening the local economy and expanding opportunities for countless students.

Dale was also a longtime and dedicated member of Moose International, where he helped lead his local lodge with the same commitment and integrity he brought to all areas of his life. His involvement in the organization reflected his lifelong belief in community, service, and fellowship.

Family was at the center of Dale’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carol Mowbray, his two surviving sons, a stepson, and a stepdaughter, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He was preceded in death by one of his sons. Dale cherished time with his family and was always happiest when surrounded by loved ones.

In his spare time, Dale enjoyed golfing, often sharing stories and laughs on the course with friends and family.

Dale’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched as a teacher, mentor, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm. Friends are welcome to attend the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ivy Tech Foundation – Student Scholarships in Dale’s memory.
