Cynthia Marlene Weir, 77, of Prairieton, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Cape May Court House, New Jersey on August 19, 1946, to Wilbur Newcomer and Wilma Tatlock Newcomer. Cindy was a 1964 graduate of Honey Creek High School where she met the love of her life, William “Tim” Weir. She went on to obtain her master’s degree from Indiana State University. Cindy was a phenomenal teacher. She taught at Paris and Marshal schools before moving on to the Washington Alternative School. There she was able to teach and inspire hundreds of children. She later taught at North High School before retiring. Cindy was an avid doll collector and was the founder of two local doll clubs. She was an active and dedicated member of the Prairieton United Methodist Church, serving as a lay church leader and choir director. Her family was her greatest joy. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was her biggest gift and proudest accomplishment.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, William “Tim” Weir, her children Chris Weir, Toby Weir (Stephanie), and Rachel Norris (Don), grandchildren Alex Weir, Damon Norris, and Eli Norris, great-grandchildren Gavin Weir and Madalynn Weir, sister Susan Gardner (Larry), special niece and caregiver Melissa Strole, nieces Shannon Nelson (Steven), and Tiffany Dycus (Jesse), nephews Michael Pearman (Cynthia), and Mick Adkins (Donna). Cindy is preceded in death by her parents.
