Clifford Paulin Obituary

Clifford J. Paulin, age 83 of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Thursday July 28, 2022 under the care of Kindred at Home Hospice.  He was born in Tell City, Indiana to Clifford “Ike” Paulin and Alberta Hess Paulin and was married to his high school sweet heart Linda Haller Paulin for 62 years before she passed in 2021. He is survived by two brothers, Dave Paulin (Sue) and Donnie Paulin (Peggy) and a brother-in- law Dr. Gary Haller (Kathy).  He also leaves behind a large family of 5 children, Marti Carr (Jack), Jim Paulin (Susan), Toni Shattuck (Chris), Shelly Paulin Canales and Eric Paulin (Gerry), along with 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Clifford attended Indiana State University while also being a photographer for WTHI TV, where his photos were found in a variety of publications.  After leaving WTHI, he returned to ISU where he worked for the audio-visual department before retiring as the director in 1995.     Clifford loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing and in 1973 took his love of fishing and developed the Indiana State University Bass Fishing Institute.  He helped develop basic fishing educational programs and video education nationwide, and even joined forces with professional fishermen Billy Murray.  Clifford also organized many regional and local fishing groups and clubs including Hoosier Big Country and the Lunker Shed. Due to his role in expanding knowledge and education in the area of fresh water fishing, Clifford was inducted into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in 2008 as a “Legendary Communicator”.  After his retirement, Clifford enjoyed travelling together with his wife and family in their motorhome across the county. They also travelled abroad exploring sites in places including Italy, Ireland and Egypt.  In his later years, Clifford enjoyed days with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The love for his family will be greatly missed.
