Charles Bays Obituary

Charles E. Bays “Pa”, 88, passed away on June 10, 2021.  He was born on June 15, 1932 to Richard A. Bays and Clara Peyton Bays.  Charles is preceded in death by his parents; wife Hazel Bays; brothers Harold L. Bays and Marion G. Bays.  He is survived by his sons Terry Bays (Marie), Tim Bays (Marcie); daughter Cindy Bays; brothers Robert Bays and Al Bays; 4 grandchildren Chris, Elizabeth, Kyle, and Chelsea; great-grandchild Daniel as well as several nieces and nephews.  Charles served his country as a Sargent in the Army during the Korean War.  He retired from PSI after 38 years.  Charles was past commander of VFW 972 and past 6th Distract Commander.  He belonged to the Riley American Legion 328, Life Member of 972, as well as a life member of American Veterans Post 61.  Charles enjoyed mushroom hunting and being in the garden.  He was a Cub Scout Leader.  He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, and NASCAR.  More than anything, Charles enjoyed being with family especially his grandchildren.  Visitation for Charles will be held on Sunday, June 13 from 4-8:00 PM at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with services starting on Monday, June 14 at 1:00 PM.  Burial at Grandview Cemetery will follow.  In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
