Betty Jo (Drake) Richmond

Betty Jo Richmond, 82, of Terre Haute passed away Saturday March 19, 2022 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Betty Jo was a retired Vigo County School Teacher where she taught for 28 years mostly Kindergarten at Farrington Grove Elementary, and she loved the children. She was born December 14, 1939 in Terre Haute to Henry Clay and Ora Jeanetta (Shull) Drake. Betty Jo is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Richard E. Richmond; son, Robert E. Richmond (Danielle); grandson, Daniel Richmond (Cassie) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beulah Barnhardt, Marjorie Johnson, Alleen Davis, and Ruth Arnold and brothers, Virgil Drake and Paul Drake. Betty Jo was a graduate of Prairie Creek high School and earned her Masters of Education from Indiana State University. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean. She also loved boating on summer vacations. Her and Richard spent 21 years after retirement in Spring Hill, Florida and the last year at Westminster Village. Betty Jo cherished her time with Richard as well as her home and the flowers she grew there and also her favorite dog Cody. Visitation will be Thursday March 24, 2022 from 12:30 until 2:30 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 2:30 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggest that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
